The January 2013 team has returned! Fourty-four members including doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other volunteers gave much needed care to the least fortunate in Chantal and Canon Haiti. The next medical mission trip will take place in January 2014. Follow this blog to stay informed of dates and news. Although the next trip is one year away there is much to do including raising money for a new clinic. Please go to the Building Campaign page of the blog to learn more.
The dates of our next mission trip have been set for the second week of January, from January 13 to January 20, 2013. Travel from Port Au Prince (PAP) to Chantal will be by bus or by plane. (Cost for a flight to Chantal from PAP is about $200 round trip). Since reservation cannot be made online, if you wish to fly to Les Cayes from Port-au-prince, please let Fr. Francois know so that he can make arrangements for you. There is a small donation of $500 that is required from each team member to buy medicines, pay translators, purchase food and transportation. These funds can be raised personally through donations. All checks are to be made to “KFC Council 6988, Share” for donations to be tax deductible and mailed to Fr. Dear Friends: Our last Haiti Medical Mission trip is now completed and was conducted Sunday, April 15 through Sunday, April 22 2012. Our team consisted of 26 members working in the specialties of dentistry, gynecology, pediatrics, and adult medicine. We had a fully functioning pharmacy in 2 locations staffed by a licensed pharmacist. We spent 4 days in Chantal and divided the team in half so 2 days could be spent in Canon Haiti. Each day we saw approximately 400-600 patients. We were supported by 22 staff members including 5 laboratory technicians, interpreters, security guards, cooks and drivers. Fr. Yves Francois coordinated the many support services including transportation, lodging, and food for all of us and we are indebted to him. We are also grateful to the sisters who kept us nourished physically and spiritually with their quiet and joyful presence.
